Fill in your non-secret values to have them appear in the examples below. Stored locally in your browser.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to seventhings as a remote MCP server. Before you begin, copy your MCP server URL from Integrations → MCP in your seventhings instance. See the MCP overview for the URL format and general security guidance.

  1. Select your profile in the bottom-left corner.
  2. Select Settings.

  1. Select Plugins.
  2. Select Developer mode.

  1. Enable Developer mode.

Developer mode availability can depend on your account and workspace policy.

  1. Select Plugins in the sidebar.

  1. Select the plus button.

  1. Enter a user-facing name and, optionally, a description for the connection.
  2. Paste your seventhings MCP server URL.
  3. Keep Authentication set to OAuth.
  4. Review and accept the custom MCP server warning.
  5. Select Create and complete the seventhings OAuth flow.

  1. Review the tools and metadata discovered from the server.
  1. Start a new conversation in ChatGPT.
  2. Add the seventhings connection from the tools menu.
  3. Review tool approval requests before allowing ChatGPT to access data or make changes.
